Borrelfontein

Based on the Afrikaans language, Borrelfontein translates literally to "bubble fountain" or "bubbling spring/fountain" (borrel = bubble, fontein = fountain/spring). It is a descriptive toponym commonly used in South Africa to describe a farm or area with a strong, active, or bubbling water spring.

Ruhan and Lucille dicovered this little gem close to Gouritzmond and invited us to spent a long weekend with them there.

The blue house on the rocks is prefab and described as a fishermans cottage. This is the exact kind of holiday housing we grew up with in the 70's/80's, which made it truly special and nostalgic to visit.

The days were spent "kuiering", walking (even some slogging), exploring, "braaing", playing board games and some afternoon napping.😄

We also met Rocco (which we called Jocko before we knew his real name)

Rocco belongs to the owner of Borrelfontein. He started to join us when me and Elske went for a jog, but later just casually hanged out with us for most of the time. He has a truly unique personality and within a few days we succumbed to his charms.

PS: we still think & talk alot about you Rocco!

Ruhan manage to spear a fish in some hectic sea conditions and we had lovely fresh sashimi to enjoy.
